AoS Maggotkin of Nurgle: Great Unclean One

If you're looking for a model for your Maggotkin of Nurgle army that immediately defines the image of the entire force, the Great Unclean One is a very obvious choice. This Warhammer Age of Sigmar miniature represents exactly the kind of large model that stands out equally on the tabletop and in the Collection. The multi-part plastic kit gives you not only size, but also a kit with plenty of room for customization. For Players, Collectors, and hobbyists, this is a model clearly focused on impact.

Many buyers choose a model like this when they want more than a standard troop addition. The Great Unclean One is especially suitable if you want to expand your Nurgle army with a central monster. This makes sense once the foundation is in place and you are looking for a figure that marks the next step visually and thematically. Compared with smaller units, this model has significantly more presence, making it better suited as a highlight for your army and display cabinet.

The set includes various weapon options, including Balesword, Plague Flail, and Doomsday Bell. You can also build Rotigus Rainfather as an alternative, making the kit even more appealing to many hobbyists. This flexibility is particularly useful if you want not only to complete your army quickly, but also to shape it deliberately. The included Citadel round base also provides a good foundation for gaming and display. Options like these are exactly what make the kit interesting to more discerning buyers.

The Great Unclean One is one of those figures that immediately gives an entire collection a clear theme. Anyone collecting Maggotkin of Nurgle or Chaos models in general gets a highly characterful large model here that does not simply disappear into the background. Collectors who want to build their army with a cohesive visual style in particular are happy to choose such central figures. Its size, build options, and distinct Nurgle identity make the model especially appealing for a collection.

In the game, the Great Unclean One is primarily suited as a striking centerpiece for your army. If you want to do more than just fill your Maggotkin of Nurgle list with units and also field a powerful model, this figure brings exactly the right level of presence. The monster is especially effective when you play an army with a clear Nurgle theme and are looking for a model whose role is immediately clear thematically. For many Players, that is the point at which a large model like this is truly worthwhile.

If you're wavering between a unit and a monster, consider what your army is currently missing. Standard troops give you playability and structure, while the Great Unclean One provides a visual centerpiece. For pure list-building, a unit box is often the more sensible choice, but for the army's overall presentation, this model is the better option. Especially with Maggotkin of Nurgle, a visual focal point plays a major role, as the faction draws heavily on its distinctive aesthetic. Here, you get exactly that in a particularly large form.

Large Nurgle miniatures are appealing to many painters because they offer plenty of surface area and many visible details. The Great Unclean One is a good example, as it allows you to work very deliberately with details, textures, and colors. If you want your next hobby project to be something substantial and striking rather than small, this model is a strong choice. It requires some time, but rewards you with a result that truly stands out in a display cabinet. For painters, this is often worth more than sheer game stats.

The Great Unclean One can of course also remain unopened in a Warhammer Collection if you prefer collecting such boxes as complete products. In most cases, however, buyers choose this kit because they want to build it, paint it, and use it in their Nurgle army. For a Sealed Collection, the clear connection to the faction is particularly interesting. But if you are looking for a large model that belongs at the center of your project, opening it is generally the more sensible decision.
